The Idoma Hall of Fame has honoured the late Edigwu O’Kpalefu, a legendary female traditional musician whose songs contributed to the preservation of the cultural heritage and musical traditions of the Idoma people.

Edigwu was recognised for her contribution to Idoma traditional music, which served as a medium for preserving indigenous songs, oral traditions and cultural expressions passed down through generations.

Her musical legacy is documented in historical recordings, including Music of the Idoma of Nigeria: Ediigwu Sings the Ancient Songs of Oturkpo, Nigeria, released in 1969.

The collection featured traditional performances, including Alekwu chants and Ichicha songs.

The Idoma Hall of Fame, founded by Engr. Agaba Ikwue, seeks to recognise individuals whose achievements have contributed to the development, history and cultural identity of the Idoma people.
