PDP chieftains join APC, pledge grassroots mobilisation for Gwamna’s gov’ship bid
The governorship ambition of Dr Jamil Gwamna, the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate in Gombe State, has been boosted by the defection of People’s Democratic Party’s bigwigs to the APC as the former PDP chieftains pledge massive grassroots mobilisation for Gwamna’s victory in 2027.
This is contained in a press statement issued in Gombe on Wednesday by Mr Ibrahim Sani Shawai, the media aide to Dr Gwamna.
Among the defectors were the former Chairman of Kwami Local Government Area, Hon. Yau Hassan (Marafan Kwami), and the former Commissioner for Economic Planning, Alhaji Danladi Pantami, both of whom formally announced their departure from the PDP and their decision to join the APC.
Speaking on behalf of the chieftains, Hon. Yau Hassan and Alhaji Danladi Pantami said they had come to declare their total loyalty to the APC while pledging to mobilise grassroots support towards ensuring landslide victory for Dr. Gwamna in 2027.
According to them, the capacity and the overwhelming support and calls for Gwamna’s emergence as the next governor of the state that will enable him implement his “Gombe First” Agenda was part of the reason they joined the APC.
In his reaction, Gwamna restated his unwavering commitment to building a united, inclusive, and prosperous Gombe State under his “Gombe First” agenda, anchored on continuity, sustainability, and people-centred governance.
Gwamna who met with the defectors during a meeting at his office in Abuja, said his aspiration to serve as Governor is driven by a profound sense of responsibility, humility, and an unwavering commitment to the collective progress of the people of Gombe State.
“Gombe First is not just a slogan; it is a solemn commitment to place the interests of the people of Gombe State above every other consideration. It is a promise to consolidate the remarkable achievements of the Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s administration through continuity, sustainability, and policies that deliver lasting development to every part of our state.”
The APC governorship candidate assured the people of Gombe State that, by the grace of Allah, his administration would be people-centred, transparent, and inclusive, ensuring that no citizen is left behind regardless of ethnicity, religion, gender, political affiliation, or social status.
He stressed that the future of Gombe lies in unity of purpose, visionary leadership, and governance that prioritises the welfare, aspirations, and shared prosperity of all citizens.
APC guber candidate welcomed the new members into the APC family, describing their decision as a clear demonstration of the growing confidence that the people of Gombe State continue to repose in the APC and its vision for the future.
