Victor Osimhen Shines in Galatasaray Debut as Nigerian Strikers Rebound

Victor Osimhen has quickly become a fan favorite at Galatasaray, joining a resurgence of form among Nigeria’s star strikers. Despite a challenging international break for the Super Eagles, the likes of Ademola Lookman and Victor Boniface delivered impressive performances during the latest gameweek.

Boniface caught attention with a unique new goal celebration, while Osimhen made a promising debut for Galatasaray after his transfer from Napoli. The Nigerian striker, who was initially linked with Chelsea before a last-minute move to Turkey, assisted Abdülkerim Bardakci in Galatasaray’s 5-0 victory over Rizespor, marking his first official contribution to the club.

Osimhen, donning the number 45 shirt, received a hero’s welcome from Galatasaray supporters and joined the team’s ultras after the match. However, the game wasn’t without controversy, as the Nigerian striker unintentionally caused a serious injury to Rizespor’s Husniddin Aliqulov, who suffered a broken cheekbone after a collision with Osimhen.

Meanwhile, over in Spain, Iñaki Williams was pivotal in Athletic Bilbao’s 3-2 triumph over Las Palmas, while Yoane Wissa’s impressive start for Brentford took a negative turn despite scoring just 22 seconds into their game against Manchester City.

Osimhen’s move to Istanbul may have surprised many, but he’s already showing signs that he’s ready to make a significant impact at his new club, reminding Europe’s elite of his worth.
