In a concerted effort to ensure full participation of Information and Public Relations Officers in the Cross River State Civil Service at the forthcoming World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) Abuja 2026, the Cross River State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), has appealed to the State Government to support information officers to attend the global event.

The Chapter Chairman, Pastor Augustine Mboso made the appeal when he led members of the Institute on a courtesy visit to the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Pastor Ekpenyong Cobham, in Calabar, PRO of the Chapter, Dr. Agnes Bassey said in a release.

Mboso, who described the Commissioner as a strategic partner in advancing professional public relations, lauded him for aligning swiftly with his mandate as the State’s spokesman, the release added.

“He disclosed that the Forum is organised to address global communication challenges, combat misinformation, and harness strategic communication to drive trust and sustainable development, adding that it was necessary to equip information officers in line with global best practices.

“He further sought the Ministry’s support for the Chapter’s Annual General Meeting and PR Week scheduled for December, and for its Children’s Day Corporate Social Responsibility programme”, it noted further.

Responding, Pastor Cobham thanked the delegation and assured them of the Ministry’s commitment to explore avenues to support participation of personnel at the global gathering, despite financial constraints.

He pledged to strengthen collaboration with the Institute to promote effective information dissemination and development of Cross River State.
