The Akwa Ibom State Government has declared Friday, November 6, 2026, a work-free day to enable residents and civil servants to participate in the reception of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during his official visit to the state.

Governor Umo Eno announced the decision after inspecting several projects scheduled for commissioning during the President’s visit.

The governor described the visit as significant to the state’s development, urging residents across the state’s 31 local government areas to turn out in large numbers to welcome the President.

Among the projects scheduled for commissioning are the International Terminal Building at Victor Attah International Airport, Aviation Village, Airport Hospital and ARISE Palm Resort.

Other projects include the 14.5-kilometre Nsit Atai–Okobo Road, Ring Road 3 Extension and the Security and Command Centre.

Eno said the presidential visit would provide an opportunity for his administration to showcase its achievements in infrastructure development and other critical sectors.

He also disclosed that a rally in support of President Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid would form part of activities lined up for the visit.

The governor commended Tinubu for making resources available to state governments, noting that the support had contributed to the execution of development projects in Akwa Ibom.

Eno called on residents to demonstrate the state’s hospitality by giving the President and his entourage a warm reception.

He urged the people to come out en masse, stressing that the work-free day was declared to allow more residents to participate in the presidential reception.

The visit is expected to feature the commissioning of several infrastructure projects across the state.
