AGN Lifts Suspension on Adanma Luke, Reapproves Riverine Filming

The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has lifted the suspension on producer Adanma Luke, initially imposed after the tragic deaths of five crew members, including actor Junior Pope, on the set of her movie “The Other Side of Life” in April.

Emeka Rollas, the guild’s national president, announced the decision following a National Executive Council meeting. Luke’s suspension has been revoked, and the ban on filming in riverine areas has also been lifted.

The AGN emphasized the importance of adhering to safety protocols and following the safety standards outlined in the guild’s bylaws to prevent future incidents.

In a statement signed by national secretary Abubakar Yakubu, Rollas said: “The National President of the Guild, Dr. Ejezie Emeka Rollas, MON, announces the lifting of the suspension on Adanma Luke, producer of the movie ‘Another Side of Life,’ where star actor Junior Pope and four other crew members lost their lives in Anam river. The President also lifted the ban on filming in riverine areas but cautioned members to apply all safety standard measures recommended in the AGN Bylaws.”

The suspension was originally imposed after an investigation revealed that Luke had violated safety protocols, leading to the April 10 incident where five crew members drowned after their boat capsized in the River Niger.

The AGN’s decision to lift the suspension and ban followed a thorough review of the case and a commitment to prioritizing safety in the film industry.
