The National President of Football Fans Club of Nigeria, (FFCN), Oluwakemi Ogunfuwa, has tagged the Super Eagles as favourites to qualify from Group C of the upcoming AFCON 2025 tournament.

Ogunfuwa told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the Super Eagles have all it takes to triumph at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) scheduled for Morocco in December.

NAN reports that the 2025 AFCON draw conducted on Jan. 27 in Rabat grouped the Super Eagles with Tunisia, Uganda and Tanzania in Group C.

Ogunfuwa, a former member of the Lagos State Women Football Committee said that with adequate preparations the Super Eagles should be able to go all the way in the tournament.

The FFCN boss noted that although there were no longer minnows in African football, the present crop of Super Eagles players can perform credibly.

She said that they have everything going for them to overcome every of their opponent in the group and all through the tournament.

According to the former CAF award winning Matriarch, Ogunfuwa expressed optimism that the Eagles would qualify to the round of 16 with ease, assuring that Tanzania and Uganda would not be a match for them.

“I sincerely wish to appreciate the NFF for doing a great job for all our national teams, particularly the Super Eagles.

“I think the 2025 AFCON will be an icing on the cake that would crown their efforts. Our President, Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau led NFF is working very hard to make Nigerians smile in Morocco.

“The present crop of players in the Super Eagles are not match with the group C teams like Tanzania, Tunisia and Uganda, “she said.

Ogunfuwa added that though the group appears tricky, other teams should not be taken for granted.

“Though, there are no longer minnows in African football, yet national teams such as Tanzania and Uganda should not be seen as pushovers for the Eagles.

“Early preparations are key to the success of the team, I am confident that the technical team led by Eric Chelle will write his name in gold for Nigeria and lift the fourth AFCON title,” she said.

The 2025 AFCON is scheduled to hold between Dec. 21 and Jan. 18, 2026, with 24 teams slugging it out for the prestigious trophy.
