Ex-Bauchi Deputy Governor Baba Tela Loses Two Children in Fatal Road Crash

Former Deputy Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Baba Tela, has been thrown into mourning following the death of his two children, Mustapha and Ummi, in a fatal road accident along the Bauchi–Azare Road.

The tragic crash occurred on Saturday as the siblings were returning from Azare. They reportedly died instantly due to the impact of the collision.

Other occupants of the vehicle sustained varying degrees of injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment.

The bodies of the deceased were taken to a hospital in Bauchi, where they were confirmed dead before being released to the family.

Funeral prayers for the late Mustapha and Ummi were held at the Bauchi Emir’s Palace, attracting hundreds of Muslim faithful, sympathisers and well-wishers. They were later laid to rest in accordance with Islamic rites.

Reacting to the tragedy, Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, expressed deep sorrow over the loss, describing the incident as a heartbreaking tragedy that has plunged the state into mourning.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, the governor said the deaths of the two siblings were a devastating loss not only to Senator Tela’s family but also to the people of Bauchi State.

Governor Mohammed prayed for Almighty Allah to grant the deceased eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus and give the bereaved family the strength and patience to bear the painful loss.

He also prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured in the accident and urged residents of the state to remember the deceased and their family in their prayers.
