Golden Eaglets Leave for China Ahead of Four-Nation Invitational Tournament

Nigeria’s U-17 national team, the Golden Eaglets, will depart the country on Thursday night to participate in the four-nation China International Youth Football Tournament in Yinchuan, China.

The announcement was made by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) in a statement issued by its Communications Department on Thursday.

According to the NFF, the five-time FIFA U-17 World Cup champions will compete against hosts China, Australia and Tanzania in the tournament scheduled for July 5 to July 11.

The federation said the 20-man squad will be led by Head Coach Uwejamomere Eboboritse, assisted by Kalli Mohammed Kachalla and Abdullahi Isa.

The tournament is organised by the Ningxia Football Association in collaboration with the Yinchuan Sports Bureau and promoted by the China Football Industry Development Corporation.

The competition is expected to provide valuable preparation for the Golden Eaglets ahead of the 2026 WAFU B U-17 Championship in September.

The regional tournament will serve as the qualifying competition for the 2027 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations.
