Horror in Abuja Community as Missing Toddler’s Body Is Recovered From Well

Tragedy struck in Yimi village, Zuba chiefdom of Gwagwalada Area Council in the FCT after a three-year-old boy, Abdullahi Musa, was found dead inside a well days after he was declared missing.

The deceased was identified as the son of the Zuba vigilante commander, Musa Baba.

A resident, Ibrahim Idris, told Daily Trust that the incident occurred after the child went missing from his family compound on Monday, May 25, 2026.

According to him, the family raised an alarm after efforts to locate the boy within the compound proved unsuccessful.

“The parents searched everywhere for the child after discovering he was missing,” Idris said.

He explained that the child’s corpse was eventually discovered inside an abandoned well around 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26.

Idris said neighbours rushed to the scene after the boy’s mother raised the alarm and later retrieved the body from the well.

He added that the child’s father was away when the corpse was recovered.

The remains of the boy were buried the same day in accordance with Islamic rites.

A family member identified simply as Yakubu said the child had gone to the backyard of the house to defecate before he suddenly disappeared.

According to him, the family initially searched the backyard and surrounding areas but could not find him, forcing residents to join in the search across the community.

“It was during the search the next day that the corpse of the child was discovered inside the abandoned well,” he said.

Residents said the incident was not officially reported to security operatives in the area.
