Former United States President Joe Biden’s prostate cancer has spread to his bones and further throughout his body, his son, Hunter Biden, has revealed.

Hunter made the disclosure during an interview with the BBC on Friday, August 8, while speaking about his father’s ongoing health battle.

According to Hunter, the illness has taken a significant physical toll on the 82-year-old former president.

“It’s very debilitating in many respects,” Hunter said. “But he’s still out there. He’s still doing his thing. He so believes in this country.”

Biden’s office announced in May 2025 that he had been diagnosed with an “aggressive” form of prostate cancer that was discovered following a routine medical examination.

The former president later underwent a course of radiation treatment, which his office said was completed in October. He also had a separate procedure to remove skin cancer cells from his forehead.

Since the initial diagnosis, Biden and his family have provided limited details about his condition.

His wife, Jill Biden, said during an appearance on NBC’s Today in June that her husband is expected to live with cancer for the rest of his life.

Biden, who became the oldest person to serve as US president, left office in January 2025 after withdrawing from the 2024 presidential race.

His health became a major issue during the campaign, particularly following his poor performance in a June 2024 presidential debate against Donald Trump. His administration and aides subsequently faced criticism over their handling of concerns about his physical and mental fitness.

Biden has remained active in public life and continues to speak on political issues since leaving office.

He is also expected to release a memoir on November 17.
