Kano Police Arrest 2 Suspects Over Murder of Popular Social Media Commentator
The Kano State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the killing of prominent political and religious commentator, Ibrahim Khalil Danshagamu.
Danshagamu, who was widely known on social media for his outspoken views on politics and religion, was reportedly found dead in his residence at Gaida Quarters in Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano State.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said police operatives responded to a distress call at about 11:30 p.m. on Monday.
According to him, officers from the Kumbotso Police Division rushed to the scene and immediately evacuated the victim to Murtala Mohammed Specialists Hospital, Kano, where he was confirmed dead by medical personnel.
“Operatives of the Kumbotso Police Division promptly responded to the scene and rushed the victim to Murtala Mohammed Specialists Hospital, Kano, where he was confirmed dead on arrival by a medical doctor,” Kiyawa said.
The police spokesperson disclosed that two suspects had been arrested in connection with the incident and are currently undergoing interrogation.
“The suspects are currently in custody undergoing interrogation. The Command has intensified efforts to apprehend any other persons who may be connected to the crime,” he added.
Kiyawa said forensic investigations were ongoing, while statements were being obtained from relevant individuals to determine the circumstances surrounding the attack and establish its motive.
The police assured residents that all those involved in the killing would be brought to justice as investigations continue.
