The Kebbi State Police Command has confirmed the release of a High Court Judge, Justice Faruk Bunza, who was abducted from his residence in Bunza Local Government Area of the state.
The judge regained his freedom after spending about one week in captivity, according to a statement issued in Birnin Kebbi on Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Bashir Usman.
Usman said the command, in collaboration with other security agencies, had intensified efforts to secure the judge’s release and ensure that those behind the abduction were brought to justice.
“Though the abductors demanded a ransom during the period of captivity, the command maintained its firm position against the payment of ransom to criminals.
“The police and other security agencies have stepped up investigatiion to track down the perpetrators and bring them to justice,” he said.
The police spokesperson appealed to residents of the state to assist ongoing investigations by providing credible information that could help security operatives identify and apprehend the suspects.
He assured members of the public that all information supplied to the command would be handled with strict confidentiality.

The abduction of Justice Bunza had heightened concerns over the safety of judicial officers and residents in parts of Kebbi State, as security agencies continue efforts to tackle rising cases of kidnapping and other criminal activities across the country.
