Kidnap Victim Rescued in Rivers After N10.3m Ransom Payment: 2 Suspects Arrested
The Rivers State Police Command has arrested two suspected members of a six-man kidnapping syndicate and rescued a victim who was abducted in Port Harcourt.
The command’s spokesperson, ASP Agabe Blessing Kaborlo, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday, October 5, 2026.
According to the police, the victim, identified as Mr Hassan, was kidnapped on September 6, 2026, around the vicinity of Fidelity Bank in the Garrison area of Port Harcourt.
The victim was reportedly taken to Igbugulu Waterside in the Borikiri area, where he was held captive for three days.
He was eventually released after his relatives paid N10.3 million as ransom.
Following the report of the incident, operatives of the Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU-AKU) launched an intelligence-led operation that led to the arrest of two suspected members of the syndicate.
The suspects were identified as 24-year-old Victor Ifeanyi, also known as “Big Boby”, a native of Aguleri Community in Otuocha Local Government Area of Anambra State, and 36-year-old Aniekan Okon Michael, aka “Duff Man”, from Ikot Ukpor in Essien Udim LGA of Akwa Ibom State.
The police said investigations are ongoing to apprehend the remaining members of the syndicate and establish their roles in the abduction.
