Nigerian woman calls for ban on DNA tests in marriage, says they fuel family breakdown
A Nigerian woman has called for DNA tests to be banned in marriages, arguing that the practice is contributing to the breakdown of families.
In a video circulating online, the woman questioned why women should be condemned for infidelity when some men also cheat and bring children from other relationships into their marital homes.
She argued that any child born to a woman during marriage should automatically be regarded as the husband’s child, regardless of whether the woman was unfaithful.
According to her, DNA testing is often motivated by distrust between couples and can create further conflict within families.
She maintained that removing DNA tests from marital disputes could help reduce suspicion and enable more marriages to survive challenges arising from infidelity and paternity concerns.
