LUTH Receives NEST360 Equipment Donation to Boost Newborn Care
The Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Idi-Araba, Lagos, has received a donation of medical and educational equipment from the Newborn Essential Solutions and Technologies (NEST360) Programme to strengthen newborn care services.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the hospital said the support would enhance neonatal care, clinical training, and data management within its Department of Paediatrics.
The donated items, presented at LUTH’s newborn unit, included two desktop computers, two LG Smart television screens, two stabilisers, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) units, tripod stands, webcams, and infection prevention posters.
Speaking during the presentation, Head of the Department of Paediatrics at LUTH and Principal Investigator/Country Lead of the NEST360 Programme in Nigeria, Chinyere Ezeaka, said the initiative reflects NEST360’s commitment to improving newborn survival rates.
She noted that the intervention would strengthen healthcare delivery through innovative solutions, healthcare worker capacity building, and stronger health systems.
LUTH’s Chief Medical Director, Wasiu Adeyemo, thanked NEST360 for its sustained partnership and support toward improving neonatal healthcare services at the hospital.
According to him, the donated equipment will enhance the hospital’s capacity to deliver quality care for newborns and support healthcare professionals in achieving improved patient outcomes.
Also speaking, NEST360 Country Director, Opeyemi Odedere, commended LUTH’s management for its continued support throughout the programme’s implementation at the facility.
Odedere reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to sustaining collaboration with LUTH to improve neonatal outcomes and expand access to quality newborn care across Nigeria.
The donation further strengthens the partnership between both institutions in advancing neonatal healthcare delivery and improving newborn survival and wellbeing nationwide.
