A 36-year-old man from Albaida, near Valencia, Spain, has been awarded £41,000 in compensation following a medical malpractice case stemming from a 30-hour erection. His wife also received £4,000 in damages.

The man suffered from priapism—a prolonged, painful erection without sexual arousal—and sought medical attention at Ontinyent Hospital. Despite the severity of his condition, treatment was delayed, leading to further complications. Eventually, he underwent surgery for a malleable penile prosthetic; however, improper placement necessitated a second operation. He now faces permanent erectile dysfunction and other health issues.

The regional government of Valencia was held liable for inadequate treatment, concluding a four-year legal battle initiated in 2020.
