Mohbad’s Father Says He’s Been Barred From Seeing Grandson

Joseph Aloba, father of late Nigerian singer Mohbad, has alleged that he has been denied access to his grandson, Liam, since the artiste’s death in 2023.

Speaking in an interview with Channels Television, Aloba said strained communication between him and the child’s mother has made it impossible for him to see the boy.

He claimed the situation has left him completely cut off, noting that the child’s mother has continued to move around with the baby without involving him.

Aloba said he accepted his late son’s partner while Mohbad was alive out of love and respect for his son. According to him, the singer introduced her and informed him of her pregnancy, which he welcomed.

He also recalled a confusing incident during what was meant to be a family introduction. Although it was initially described as a small meeting between both families, Aloba said he arrived to find a large gathering, leaving him uncertain about the nature of the event.

He added that Mohbad later distanced himself from certain arrangements and expressed concerns about the relationship, further deepening his worries.

“Since Mohbad died, the lady has been moving around with the baby, and I don’t have access to him,” he said. “He introduced her to me and told me she was pregnant, and I accepted her.

“But on the day of the introduction, I saw a crowd and became confused about what was going on. Later, he said he wouldn’t involve me in some matters and shared concerns about the relationship.”

Mohbad’s death continues to attract public attention, with lingering discussions around family dynamics and the welfare of his child.
