The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has conducted an air operation against suspected kidnappers in the Ogbadigbo area of Benue State, providing close air support to surface forces operating in the area.

The operation, which took place near the Enugu–Benue boundary, disrupted the activities of the suspected criminal elements and supported the advance of ground troops.

The NAF, in a statement on Thursday by its Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, said the operation was successfully executed as part of ongoing efforts to deny criminal elements freedom of action.

According to the statement, the pilot, after completing the mission, exercised professional discretion and carried out a precautionary landing approximately 10 nautical miles from the airfield while returning to base.

The Air Force said the action was taken in line with established operational and safety procedures following combat missions.

It, however, confirmed that the helicopter subsequently returned safely to base.

“The NAF remains committed to sustaining pressure on criminal elements, providing close air support to surface forces and protecting communities through coordinated air and ground operations,” Ejodame said.

He added that the outcome of the operation demonstrated the Air Force’s continued resolve to support efforts aimed at restoring safety and security to communities affected by criminal activities.

The operation in Ogbadigbo is part of intensified military efforts across the country to disrupt the activities of kidnappers and other criminal groups threatening communities.
