The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has issued a warning to Nigerians about the rising number of fake recruitment advertisements circulating online.

In a statement released on Wednesday by the Service Public Relations Officer, Kenneth Udo, the Comptroller General of the NIS, Kemi Nandap, alerted the public to fraudulent schemes designed to deceive unsuspecting job seekers.

Nandap emphasized that the NIS conducts its recruitment processes in a transparent and merit-based manner, with all official vacancies advertised on the agency’s website, government channels, and recognized national newspapers. She stated, “The attention of the service has been drawn to the alarming increase in fake recruitment activities being perpetrated by fraudsters. The NIS maintains that all recruitment exercises are conducted in a transparent, free, and merit-based manner.”

The Comptroller General further assured the public that the NIS is collaborating with relevant authorities to identify and apprehend those behind these fraudulent activities, promising to uphold the highest standards of integrity and professionalism.

Members of the public are urged to stay vigilant and avoid engaging with any fraudulent recruitment schemes. Mrs. Nandap advised that anyone receiving unsolicited messages or contacted by individuals claiming to represent the NIS for recruitment should report immediately through the official channels:
