Plateau State: Joint Troops Rescue 2 Kidnapped Victims in Operations

Troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation Enduring Peace (JTF-OPEP), have successfully rescued two kidnapped victims in separate operations across the Bassa and Kanam Local Government Areas of Plateau State.

The Media Officer for the operation, Capt. Polycarp Oteh, confirmed the rescues in a statement issued on Wednesday in Jos. He attributed the success of the operations to intelligence sharing and strong support from local communities.

According to Oteh, troops from Sector 3 responded to credible intelligence on Tuesday, August 25, regarding a plot to kidnap Mr. Ndubuisi Onuigbo in Bassa LGA. A swift search-and-rescue operation led to his successful rescue.

In a separate incident early Wednesday, August 26, Sector 2 troops on patrol in the Kukawa community of Kanam LGA intercepted a group of suspected terrorists. The troops pursued the armed elements, forcing them to abandon their captive, Malam Sambo Abdullahi, before fleeing the scene.

Both rescued individuals have been debriefed and safely reunited with their families.

Commending the troops for their swift action, the Commander of JTF-OPEP, Maj.-Gen. Maxwell Dangana, reaffirmed the military’s commitment to sustaining aggressive operations against criminal elements across the state.
