Fact Check: Abuja Police Respond to Social Media Organ Harvesting Claims
The Police Command in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has officially denied reports circulating on social media regarding the alleged sale of human kidneys in the Nyanya district of Abuja.
The clarification was issued on Wednesday by the Command Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, responding to viral claims that local youths were selling their kidneys to an agent based in the neighboring Mararaba area of Nasarawa State.
“The Police Command in the FCT wishes to categorically state that it has neither received nor confirmed any report of such nature. No statement or communication to that effect has emanated from the command,” Adeh stated.
She advised members of the public to disregard the unverified publications, warning that spreading false rumors causes unnecessary fear and panic across the FCT.
