The Delta State Police Command has arrested two suspected kidnappers as part of efforts to curb criminal activities in the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, disclosed this while speaking with journalists on Sunday in Warri, noting that the arrests were made by the command’s tactical team following credible intelligence.

According to him, the suspects were apprehended on Friday at separate locations in Warri and Ughelli.

“On April 24, operatives of the command’s tactical team, acting on credible intelligence, arrested one of the suspects in the Ekuigbo area of Ughelli.

“The suspect was arrested in connection with a kidnapping syndicate terrorising commuters along the Ughelli–Warri Road.

“Further interrogation led to the arrest of the second suspect at Trailer Park on the Warri–Sapele Road,” he said.

Edafe added that an AK-47 rifle loaded with 36 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition was recovered from the suspects.

He noted that the suspects are currently in police custody, while investigations into the case are ongoing.
