Sowore Alleges Tinubu Submitted Different Chicago State University Certificate to INEC

The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has alleged that President Bola Tinubu submitted a different certificate from to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) compared to the one he presented during the 1999 governorship election in Lagos State.

Speaking to journalists on Monday, Sowore claimed that the document Tinubu submitted ahead of the 2027 general election was not the same as the certificate filed with INEC when he contested for governor in 1999.

According to him, Nigerians should be cautious about electing leaders whose academic credentials cannot be independently verified.

“The APC candidate only presented a paper from Chicago State University, which was different from the paper he presented in 1999,” Sowore said.

The allegations followed INEC’s publication on Friday of the credentials and personal details of presidential candidates participating in the 2027 election.

Sowore also referenced ongoing public debate over President Tinubu’s educational records, including questions surrounding his primary and secondary school certificates.

President Tinubu has consistently maintained that he attended Chicago State University, and the authenticity of his academic records has been the subject of legal and political scrutiny in recent years.
