Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has moved to inject fresh ideas and strengthen his administration with the nomination of eight new commissioners to fill key positions in the state cabinet.
The nominations were disclosed on Wednesday by the Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Dr Danladi Jatau, during plenary in Lafia, while reading a letter from the governor requesting the consideration and screening of the nominees.
The move is part of Governor Sule’s efforts to reposition his administration and bring in more capable hands to drive development initiatives across the state.
The nominees are Muhammad Nagogo from Wamba Local Government Area (LGA); Ahmed Yakubu Mohammed from Lafia LGA; and Hon. Mohammed Shehu from Keffi LGA.
Others are Hon. Mohammed Oyigye from Obi LGA; Adamu Kpadji from Wamba LGA; Nawani Aboki from Doma LGA; Jibril Ibrahim from Nasarawa LGA; and Dr Ashefo Daniel from Lafia LGA.
The Speaker directed the Clerk of the House to formally communicate with the nominees, requesting them to submit 30 copies of their Curriculum Vitae and appear before the Assembly for screening on Friday.
The latest nominations come barely weeks after the governor announced a cabinet shake-up aimed at improving efficiency and strengthening service delivery.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that on July 22, Governor Sule relieved six commissioners of their appointments as part of a wider cabinet reshuffle designed to reposition his administration for greater impact.
The nomination of the new commissioners is expected to provide fresh momentum for the government’s programmes and policies as the administration enters a new phase of implementation.
