Suspected ISWAP Member’s Wife, Three Children Surrender to Nigerian Troops in Borno
A woman suspected to be the wife of an Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) member has surrendered to Nigerian Army troops alongside her three children in Borno State.
The woman reportedly surrendered at about 9:40 a.m. on October 25, 2026, to troops of the 202 Battalion at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Abbaram in Bama Local Government Area of the state.
According to security sources, she told the troops that she had fled a terrorist enclave in Zarmari village, near Bula Daloye, in a bid to reunite with her husband, whom she believed had previously surrendered to the military.
The woman and her three children are currently in military custody for further investigation and necessary action.
The development comes amid ongoing military operations in Nigeria’s North-East, where troops have continued efforts to weaken insurgent groups and encourage their members and families to leave terrorist enclaves.
Security agencies are expected to screen and process individuals who surrender as part of efforts to gather intelligence and address the insurgency in the region.
