The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media & Communications (Office of The Vice President), Mr. Stanley Nkwocha, confirmed Shettima’s arrival at John F. Kennedy International Airport on Monday.

Upon his arrival, the vice-president was received by key officials, including Minister of Foreign Affairs Amb. The 79th session of UNGA serves as a pivotal moment in advancing the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and addressing global challenges such as climate change, poverty, inequality, and health crises. The Summit of the Future, held during UNGA, emphasizes the need for enhanced international cooperation to tackle pressing issues.

UNGA will host the SDG Media Zone from September 23-27, offering interviews and dialogues on critical global matters. Heads of State and Government will gather on September 22-23 to discuss challenges in global governance, aiming to strengthen commitments to the SDGs and the UN Charter.

The summit will culminate in a “Pact for the Future,” an action-oriented document designed to reinforce global cooperation and address current challenges effectively for the benefit of future generations. Additionally, the UN Secretary-General’s “Summit of the Future Action Days” on September 20-21 will foster engagement from all stakeholders.
