Authorities in Myanmar have confiscated over 170,000 stimulant tablets in a crackdown on drug trafficking in the central Mandalay region, the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC) reported on Tuesday.
Acting on a tip-off, anti-narcotics officers raided a guesthouse in Chanmyathazi Township on Sunday, seizing 2,000 stimulant tablets and arresting a suspect. Further investigations led officers to the suspect’s house in Patheingyi Township, where they discovered an additional 171,000 tablets.
Authorities estimate the street value of the seized drugs at over 346 million kyats (approximately 164,000 U.S. dollars). The suspect has been charged under Myanmar’s drug laws, and further investigations are ongoing.
