The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced an urgent maintenance exercise at its Kukwaba 132/33kV Transmission Substation in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), which will result in a temporary power outage in some parts of Abuja.
The company, in a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday, said the maintenance was necessary to enable its engineers to carry out work on critical equipment at the substation.
According to TCN, the exercise will involve maintenance of its 60MVA 132/33kV transformer and the amendment of a hot spot on the 33kV L32 Blue-Phase current transformer.
It said the maintenance would take place from 12:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The company said the exercise would affect electricity supply to several communities and establishments in the affected areas.
TCN said: ” TCN wishes to inform the public that an urgent maintenance has been scheduled at its Kukwaba 132/33kV Transmission Substation.
”The exercise will enable TCN’s engineers carry out maintenance on its 60MVA 132/33kV Transformer and amend the hot-spot on the 33kV L32 Blue – Phase current transformer from 12:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
”During the maintenance period, Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) will be unable to supply power to customers in Trademore, Sabon Lugbe and environs, America International School, Galadimawa, SunCity and environs, and Kabusa Garden Estate, Sabon Lugbe and environs,” it said.
TCN appealed for the understanding of electricity consumers in the affected areas, apologising for the inconvenience the temporary outage might cause.
The company said the maintenance was necessary to ensure the reliability and safety of the transmission infrastructure serving electricity consumers in the affected parts of the FCT.
