Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum, has ordered an immediate ban on the sale of petrol in Bama Local Government Area, including Bama town and Banki, as part of intensified efforts to tackle security challenges in the region.

The governor’s directive, announced after consultations with security agencies, was disclosed in a statement on Saturday by his Special Adviser on Media and Strategy, Malam Dauda Iliya.

“I have directed the immediate ban on the sale of petrol in Bama town, Banki, and other parts of Bama Local Government Area with immediate effect,” Zulum stated.

The governor issued a stern warning to anyone attempting to flout the directive, emphasizing that violators would face severe consequences.

“Let me make it clear, there will be no sacred cows in the enforcement of this ban,” he said.
“Security agencies have been given strict orders to clamp down on any filling station or individual contravening this directive. Anyone found culpable will be dealt with accordingly.”

Zulum reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to restoring lasting peace across Borno State and called on residents to cooperate with security agencies in the ongoing fight against insurgency.

The governor has consistently taken strategic steps aimed at disrupting logistics and fuel supplies to insurgents, thereby limiting their operational capabilities in conflict-ridden areas.
