Nigerian content creator and philanthropist Mitchell Mukoro, popularly known as King Mitchy, has publicly apologised for her recent controversial behaviour online, including consuming a substance during a live video.

In a statement addressed to Nigerians, she admitted wrongdoing and expressed regret to several individuals, including Seyi Tinubu, activist VeryDarkMan, and the Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife.

King Mitchy said she had reflected on her actions and recognised that her behaviour disappointed many people, particularly young girls who see her as a role model.

“Good morning Nigerians. I’m ready to be held accountable for my actions. For some days I’ve thought about my behaviour and I know that I was wrong and I want to be held accountable,” she said.

She described her decision to consume a substance during a live broadcast as a serious mistake.

“For the substance I took on live video, that was very wrong of me because there are young girls that are looking up to be me one day and I know I disappointed a lot of people. That was wrong of me,” she added.

The influencer also issued a public apology to Seyi Tinubu, the son of Bola Tinubu, saying she had previously apologised privately but felt it was necessary to do so publicly.

“I know I apologised privately but I did not disrespect you privately, I disrespected you publicly, so I want to apologise publicly,” she said.

She also apologised to the Ooni of Ife for bringing the monarch’s name into the controversy and expressed regret for criticising VeryDarkMan, whom she later acknowledged as advocating for positive change in Nigeria.

The controversy began in late February after King Mitchy announced plans to renovate a dilapidated school within six days. The project sparked a feud with VeryDarkMan, who alleged that the initiative was intended to improve the public image of the Tinubu administration.

Tensions escalated when King Mitchy posted what she described as a private conversation with the Ooni of Ife, drawing criticism from many who viewed it as disrespectful to the traditional ruler.

The situation worsened after she appeared distressed in a live video where she was seen ingesting a substance believed by viewers to be bleach despite attempts by followers to stop her.

Her management team initially announced her death in a post on her Instagram page but later retracted the statement, clarifying that she was alive and recovering.

In response to the allegations, Seyi Tinubu denied claims linking him to the feud, stating he had only met King Mitchy once in a public setting where he supported her non-governmental organisation.

He said the meeting was part of his efforts to support young Nigerians and organisations working to empower communities, adding that a planned follow-up meeting to review the NGO’s activities did not hold because he had been unwell.

Earlier, VeryDarkMan had accused Seyi Tinubu of funding King Mitchy’s projects and threatening his life—claims the president’s son has strongly denied.
