Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2 Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos, AIG Olohundare Jimoh, has assured residents of Lagos and Ogun States of adequate security before, during, and after the upcoming Eid-el-Kabir and Children’s Day celebrations.

Jimoh gave the assurance in a statement issued on Tuesday in Lagos by the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Gbenga Afolayan.

In the message, he extended warm greetings to Muslim faithful and children across both states, noting the significance of the two celebrations within the festive period.

He described Eid-el-Kabir as a sacred occasion that represents sacrifice, obedience, love, peace, and unity, urging residents to embody these values by promoting tolerance, compassion, and peaceful coexistence in their communities.

He also felicitated children on the occasion of Children’s Day, describing them as future leaders whose welfare, protection, moral guidance, and proper upbringing remain a collective responsibility of parents, guardians, and society at large.

The AIG further assured that the Zone 2 Command, in collaboration with the Commissioners of Police in Lagos and Ogun States, had put in place robust and proactive security arrangements to forestall any breakdown of law and order during the celebrations.

He explained that the security architecture was designed to ensure a peaceful, safe, and hitch-free festive period across both states.

Jimoh directed the Commissioners of Police in Lagos and Ogun under the Zone to intensify visibility policing, patrols, intelligence gathering, and traffic decongestion operations to guarantee maximum security in all areas.

According to him, the measures are aimed at safeguarding lives and property while maintaining public order throughout the festive period.

He further urged residents to remain law-abiding, security conscious, and vigilant, encouraging them to promptly report suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station or designated emergency contacts.

Jimoh also stressed the importance of public cooperation with security agencies, noting that effective policing relies heavily on timely and credible information from citizens.
