Hamas Commander and Family Killed in Israeli Strike on Lebanon Refugee Camp

1 3

The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) has confirmed that an Israeli airstrike killed one of its commanders, Saeed Attallah Ali, along with his wife and two daughters, in a refugee camp in northern Lebanon on Saturday. This marks the first time the Beddawi camp near Tripoli has been struck since the Gaza conflict began.

Hamas stated that the “Zionist bombardment” targeted Ali’s residence, leading to the family’s deaths. Since the start of the Gaza war nearly a year ago, Israel has intensified its operations against Hamas figures in Lebanon. The militant group has announced the deaths of at least 18 members in the region during this period.

Earlier in the week, another airstrike killed Hamas leader Fatah Sharif Abu al-Amine in southern Lebanon’s Al-Bass camp, while a similar attack in August claimed the life of Hamas commander Samer al-Hajj in Sidon. In January, an Israeli strike in Beirut, which was confirmed by a U.S. defense official, killed Hamas deputy leader Saleh al-Aruri and six others.
