A Ugandan TikToker, Emmanuel Nabugodi, has been convicted for creating a video that mocked President Yoweri Museveni and called for his public flogging.
The 21-year-old pleaded guilty to charges of “spreading hate speech” and faces up to seven years in prison.
The controversial video depicted a mock trial of Museveni, who has ruled Uganda since 1986. Nabugodi’s sentencing is scheduled for November 18, following his remand at the Kigo maximum security prison near Kampala.
Prosecutors are pushing for the maximum penalty, according to state attorney Paul Aheebwa Byamukama.
This conviction marks the fourth such case in two days, highlighting a broader crackdown on critics of the 80-year-old leader and his family.
