Nigerian Man Sparks Reactions, Says Women Who Reject Second Wives Are ‘Demons’
A Nigerian man, Onyeka Okafor, has sparked controversy after describing women who refuse to allow their husbands to marry additional wives as “demons.”
Okafor, who is known online as ‘Wajaawaja Eziokwu by Ndu’, made the statement in a Facebook post on Sunday.
According to him, a woman who genuinely loves her husband should be willing to give him permission to marry a second wife.
He argued that, as an Igbo man, a husband whose first wife refuses to accept the idea of a second marriage has married a “demon.”
“As an Igbo man, you married a demon if your first wife can’t allow you or gives you the eligibility of marrying a second wife,” he wrote.
His comments have reignited discussions about polygamy, marital expectations and the rights of spouses to make decisions about their relationships.
