The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has announced plans to host the South Africa-Nigeria Film Week from March 15 to March 19, 2025, in Johannesburg. This initiative, in partnership with the Pan-African Film Development Foundation, aims to foster collaboration and knowledge exchange between filmmakers from the two countries.

Emeka Rollas, National President of AGN, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday in Lagos. He highlighted the film week as a pivotal event to enhance the industry through shared experiences.

“This year, 2025, I shall be concluding my last tenure as the 8th National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria. I am filled with pride and gratitude for all we’ve achieved together,” Rollas said.

Rollas outlined an ambitious agenda for AGN in 2025, emphasizing the guild’s commitment to empowering actors and expanding its international presence.

On March 13, AGN will launch its ‘Super App’ and inaugurate a state-of-the-art complex for its Abuja National Headquarters, which Rollas described as a “monumental achievement solidifying the growth and legacy of the AGN.”

In addition, the ‘AGN Walk for Life,’ a health awareness campaign, will take place simultaneously across 34 state chapters on March 29. Members will interact with service providers and sign up for Health Maintenance Organization (HMO), insurance, and pension schemes.

April 10 has been declared “Junior Pope Day of Safety and Occupational Hazards.” Rollas explained, “It is a no-shoot day for all actors—a time to reflect on occupational hazards, safety, and precautionary measures before filming.”

AGN will also host a series of major events in 2025, including:

  • AGN Praise (April 8-11), a prayer programme with Pastor Jerry Eze of Streams of Joy International.
  • The 2nd Nollywood & African Films Investment Summit & Awards (NAFISA) in July, aimed at solidifying AGN’s global footprint.
  • The 3rd edition of the AGN International Festival (AGNIF) in November, following two successful previous editions.

“Our global footprint continues to expand through impactful initiatives,” Rollas said, reaffirming the guild’s vision for growth.

The South Africa-Nigeria Film Week is expected to be a significant milestone in the AGN’s efforts to bridge gaps and strengthen ties within the African film industry.
