Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has approved the appointment of Mr Nathan Angwe as Principal Special Assistant, PSA, to the Governor on Local Government Affairs.
Angwe replaces the former PSA, Ioryue Yajir.
The new appointee, who hails from Mbayange, Mbaakpough, Mbayion in Gboko Local Government Area, is a retired staff member of the Bureau of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Makurdi.
He served as Local Government Inspector in several local government areas of the state before retiring as a Principal Local Government Inspector.
Governor Alia also approved the appointment of Mr Benjamin Aondonenge Ikyereve as the new Gubernatorial Liaison Officer, GLO, for Tarka Local Government Area.
Ikyereve holds a B.Sc. in Business Administration and previously served as Secretary to the Tarka Local Government Council.
Congratulating the appointees, Alia said their appointments were in recognition of their experience, distinguished service and competence in public administration.
“Your appointments as Principal Special Assistant to the Governor on Local Government Affairs and Gubernatorial Liaison Officer for Tarka Local Government, respectively, represent a recognition of your distinguished service and proven competence in public administration,” the governor said.
Alia expressed confidence that their experience in local government administration would help strengthen the relationship between his administration and local government councils across the state.
“It is my belief that drawing from your collective experiences — as a retired Principal Local Government Inspector with vast knowledge of local governance structures across the state, and as a business administrator with deep roots in local government administration — you are certainly not oblivious of your task of strengthening the critical interface between my office and our local government councils,” he added.
The governor tasked the new appointees with ensuring seamless coordination and facilitating the effective implementation of government policies at the grassroots.
He also charged them to serve as strategic advisers on matters affecting their respective communities.
