The Kano State Hisbah Board has arrested several young men for allegedly failing to observe the Ramadan fast on the first day of the holy month.
Deputy Commander General of the Board, Dr. Mujahideen Abubakar, confirmed the arrests, stating that the suspects were apprehended during routine patrols across Kano metropolis.
In addition, the board arrested about 60 individuals for sporting what it described as “indecent haircuts” that violate Islamic law and local cultural norms.
Hisbah operatives also detained some commercial tricycle (keke napep) drivers for allegedly mixing male and female passengers in their vehicles, an act the board insists is unacceptable.
The agency reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing Sharia law throughout Ramadan and vowed to intensify patrols to ensure compliance.
