The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Osun Command, has mobilised 1,750 personnel to guarantee safety and security during this year’s Christmas celebration across the state.

In a statement issued on Thursday in Osogbo, Mr Igbalawole Sotiyo, the NSCDC Commandant in Osun, disclosed that the officers would carry out both covert and overt operations throughout the festive period.

Sotiyo stated that the personnel would also maintain 24-hour surveillance over critical national assets and infrastructure in the state during the festivities.

“Security will be ensured at worship centres, marketplaces, recreation centres, and other potential flashpoints in the state,” he assured.

He added that the corps would collaborate with other sister agencies to provide comprehensive security during and after the celebrations.

The commandant issued a stern warning to individuals intending to disrupt public order. “Anyone planning to cause a breakdown of law and order should rethink, or they must be prepared to face the consequences of their actions,” Sotiyo warned.

He also advised NSCDC officers to remain civil but firm in carrying out their duties and urged the public to report any suspicious activities in their surroundings to the nearest security agency.
