NSCDC Trains Personnel on Cyber Security, Digital Literacy in Katsina
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Katsina State Command has initiated a two-day training program aimed at boosting the cyber security and digital literacy skills of its personnel.
According to the Commandant, Mr. Jamilu Indabawa, the training is designed to enhance the performance of officers, particularly in the area of cyber resilience. The program, themed “Strengthening Cyber Resilience: Enhancing Digital Literacy and Awareness among Civil Defence Personnel,” comes at a critical time when technology is integral to security operations.
Represented by Deputy Corps Commandant Ibrahim Baba-Numan, Head of Administration and Personnel, Indabawa emphasized the importance of this initiative. “Cyber security and digital skills are crucial in today’s technology-driven world,” he stated. “This training will improve the protection of sensitive information, prevent financial losses, safeguard national security, and protect intellectual properties.”
Indabawa urged participants to take full advantage of the knowledge shared by expert resource persons, expressing confidence in their ability to deliver valuable insights. He also encouraged attendees to share what they learned with their colleagues to enhance overall capacity within the command.
In his remarks, Usman Abbas, President of the Computer Business Operators Society in Katsina, highlighted the growing cyber threats that come with the shift from analog to digital systems. He praised the NSCDC for taking proactive measures to strengthen both physical and cyber security, stressing the need for continuous capacity building.
The training, organized in collaboration with the Computer Business Operators Society, reflects the NSCDC’s ongoing efforts to enhance cyber awareness and operational effectiveness across the state.
