Nollywood actress Queeneth Hilbert has filed a lawsuit against the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, and fellow actress Destiny Etiko, alleging an attempted unlawful arrest.
The legal action follows a public dispute in which Hilbert accused Etiko of “snatching” her wealthy boyfriend and threatened physical harm if Etiko visited Asaba, Delta State.
In response to Hilbert’s allegations, Etiko filed a ₦100 million defamation lawsuit, demanding a retraction of the statements and a public apology. Subsequently, Hilbert sought legal protection by filing a fundamental human rights suit at the Federal High Court in Lagos. She claims that the police attempted to arrest her at Etiko’s instigation, describing the action as illegal and a violation of her constitutional rights. Hilbert is seeking ₦100 million in damages for the alleged unlawful invasion.
The legal battle has attracted significant public attention, highlighting issues of personal disputes escalating into legal confrontations within the Nigerian entertainment industry.
