Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has reacted to the ₦200 million bail granted to him by the Federal High Court in Abuja, stating that government authorities have consistently sought to restrict his passport.

Sowore, who is facing alleged cybercrime charges, made the remarks shortly after the court proceedings on Tuesday.

Although admitted to bail, Sowore was returned temporarily to the Kuje Correctional Centre pending the fulfilment of his bail conditions.

Justice Mohammed Umar granted bail with conditions requiring two sureties, including a traditional ruler from Sowore’s community and an owner of property in Abuja. The court also ordered the surrender of his international passport.

Sowore has remained in custody since June 22, 2026, following allegations linked to comments in which he reportedly described President Bola Tinubu as a criminal.

Speaking after leaving the courtroom, Sowore maintained a defiant stance.

“There is no force on earth that can stop this revolution,” he said.

Reacting to the passport condition attached to his bail, Sowore added: “We warned them, but they didn’t listen. I was granted ₦200 million bail. They have always been after my passport. When we get to that bridge, we will cross it.”
