U.S. Embassy Signs Landmark Tech Partnership with Ilorin Innovation Hub
The U.S. Embassy in Nigeria has signed a three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ilorin Innovation Hub to support the development of the state’s technology sector.
According to a statement released on Thursday, the agreement marks the Embassy’s first Public-Private Partnership (PPP) outside the existing American Spaces Network, signalling expanded U.S. engagement in Nigeria’s innovation ecosystem.
The collaboration is expected to deliver programmes focused on Artificial Intelligence, STEM education, and professional development, aimed at strengthening capacity in Kwara’s growing tech space.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Public Diplomacy Counselor Lee McManis described the agreement as “an important milestone” that would boost innovation-driven trade and investment between the United States and Nigeria.
He noted that Kwara is emerging as a technology hub, attracting interest from American companies seeking opportunities for collaboration and competition within the expanding market.
McManis added that the partnership would showcase U.S. leadership in innovation while offering business English and STEM training to equip Nigerian professionals with skills aligned to global industry standards.
He emphasised that the initiative reflects a shared commitment to advancing innovation, education and economic growth.
“This MoU reflects our shared belief that innovation, education and opportunity are the foundations of a safer, stronger and more prosperous future for both our countries,” he said.
