A 86-year-old Ugandan lawmaker Moses Ali campaigning for re-election has stirred public concern over his health and fitness for office.

The footage captures the veteran politician, who is also a Lieutenant General and former Deputy Prime Minister, addressing constituents with the aid of an interpreter. He is seeking another term as Member of Parliament for Adjumani West in the 2026 elections.

Ali, who has served in various government roles for over five decades, appeared in the video with noticeable involuntary movements in his limbs, prompting viewers to question whether he is physically fit to continue in public office.

While some citizens applauded his long-standing service, many urged the elderly lawmaker to prioritise his health and retire from politics rather than seek another term.

The debate has reignited conversations around age, health, and leadership in Uganda’s political landscape.
