UAE Summons Iranian Envoy, Issues Strong Protest Over Alleged Attacks
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates has summoned Iran’s ambassador to the UAE, Reza Ameri, and formally delivered a strongly worded note of protest condemning recent Iranian attacks.
In a statement, the ministry said that any targeting of United Arab Emirates territory constitutes a blatant violation of the country’s sovereignty, a serious threat to national security, and a clear breach of international laws, charters, and norms.
The UAE also expressed its categorical rejection of all justifications or explanations issued by the Iranian government, describing the actions as an aggressive escalation that targeted civilian locations, including residential areas, airports, ports, and service facilities, and endangered unarmed civilians. The ministry stressed that such actions are inconsistent with the principles of good neighborliness and international law.
Minister of State at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Khalifa Al Marar, warned that the developments could have serious repercussions for bilateral relations, with direct consequences for political, economic, and commercial ties. He added that the UAE reserves its full legal right to respond in accordance with international law.
