Ojema Floors Five Rivals, Clinches APC Ticket for Apa/Agatu Reps Seat

The member representing House of Representatives for Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency, Chief Hon. Pst. Ojotu Ojema, has emerged winner of the All Progressives Congress primary election for the constituency’s House of Representatives seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Ojema, who also chairs the House Committee on National Inland Waterways, secured a landslide victory in the primary election conducted across the 21 council wards of the constituency on Saturday.

Announcing the results, the Collation Officer, Comrade Ajoma Success Ode, declared Ojema winner after polling 11,305 votes to defeat five other aspirants in the keenly contested exercise.

Matthew Ochayi Alidu came second with 985 votes, while Hon. Danladi Ochekpe placed third with 934 votes.

Other contestants recorded the following scores: Hon. Simon Omachoko, 896 votes; Hon./Mrs. Ruth Ochefu, 872 votes; and Hon. James Abu Umoru, 608 votes.

According to the official figures released at the end of the exercise, 17,586 votes were registered, while a total of 15,600 votes were cast during the primary election.

The exercise was described as peaceful, with party delegates and stakeholders participating actively across Apa and Agatu Local Government Areas.

Party faithful and political observers said the outcome reflected growing confidence in Ojema’s leadership style, legislative performance and grassroots engagement within the constituency.

Following the announcement of the results, supporters of the federal lawmaker reportedly trooped out in celebration, expressing optimism that the APC would strengthen its hold on the constituency ahead of the 2027 polls.
