Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, a presidential aspirant on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has announced that he will not attend the presentation of results from the party’s presidential primary election, citing alleged electoral infractions.
Hayatu-Deen made his position known in a statement shared via his X handle on Tuesday in Abuja, where he expressed concern over reports of widespread vote rigging during the exercise.
He also alleged that some of the irregularities reported were personally witnessed by him during the voting process.
According to him, he will consult further before deciding on his next course of action following the controversy surrounding the primary election.
“I will not be attending the announcement of the ADC presidential election results today.
“I am concerned by reports from across the country of widespread vote rigging, some of which I myself observed, and will therefore be seeking advice on my next steps,” he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the African Democratic Congress conducted its presidential primary election on Monday nationwide to select its candidate for the 2027 general elections.
It further reports that collation of results is ongoing at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja, by the party’s presidential election committee.
Other aspirants in the race include former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, and economist and former banker, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen.
