The Osun State Police Command has commenced enforcement of the third-party vehicle insurance policy in line with the directive of the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
In a statement issued on Monday in Osogbo, the command’s spokesperson, CSP Yemisi Opalola, said the move aims to ensure compliance with Section 68 of the Insurance Act and Sections 1, 2, and 3 of the Motor Vehicle (Third-Party Insurance) Act.
According to Opalola, the Commissioner of Police, Muhammed Abba, has reiterated the command’s commitment to safeguarding road users from motor accident risks.
“Vehicle owners in Osun are urged to verify their insurance certificates’ authenticity and validity, as non-compliance will result in sanctions,” she said.
She further disclosed that enforcement teams would comprise personnel from the Osun Police Command, the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), and the Osun State Internal Revenue Service.
The police urged vehicle owners seeking further inquiries or clarification to contact the Osun Command’s Public Relations Officer.
