APC Criticizes Edo Government for Postponing School Resumption Over Fuel Hike
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has condemned the Edo State Government’s decision to indefinitely suspend school resumption due to the recent fuel price hike, calling it an “expensive political gimmick.”
In a memo issued by Ojo Akin-Longe, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, the state postponed the September 9th school resumption date until further notice.
Peter Uwadiae-Enosorogbe, APC’s Publicity Secretary, criticized the move, arguing that the fuel price hike should not affect children’s education. He expressed shock at the government’s decision, stating, “You cannot sacrifice children’s education for fuel scarcity. This is not the first fuel price hike, and it should not disrupt the educational system.”
According to Uwadiae-Enosorogbe, no protests or parental complaints have arisen over the fuel hike, making the government’s action unjustifiable. “The government has erred again,” he said, adding that the decision harms children, parents, and the state’s education system.
