Interagency Rivalry Worsening Nigeria’s Security Challenges, NSCDC Commandant Warns
The Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has raised concerns over growing rivalry among security agencies, warning that poor collaboration is contributing to Nigeria’s worsening security situation.
The commandant said competition and lack of coordination among agencies continue to undermine efforts to tackle insecurity across the country.
According to him, effective intelligence sharing, joint operations, and stronger interagency cooperation are critical to addressing threats such as terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and other criminal activities.
He stressed that security agencies must prioritise national interest above institutional competition and work together to improve operational efficiency.
The NSCDC boss also called for improved communication channels and a unified approach to security management, noting that lasting peace can only be achieved through collective action.
He urged all stakeholders in the security sector to strengthen partnerships and eliminate unnecessary rivalries that weaken national security efforts.
